Today is the first #RealMeDay which is intended to help spread awareness of mental health issues through the growing use of social media. The intent is to post a photo without filters but I wanted to show that it’s not just filters that improve the appearance. These are just a few of my #lights that I use behind my photos for a ‘perfected’ image that is not real life. Not to mention the professional camera, years of practice using photoshop, and sometimes the whole afternoon was spent capturing the right #lookoftheday Social media gives us just a glimpse into people’s real lives. But these perfected #instagram profiles barely show the reality of life behind the #photos. And if you really want to help people- be kind to everyone. You don’t know what’s going on in someone’s life and what they could be suffering from. #bekindtohumans

I’m a social media contributor and an Instagram junkie. Sometimes my life looks perfect. But there’s things I want you to know that don’t show up in the scroll of what must seem like endlessly-perfect vacations, outfits and party shots.ย
