1. A Place to Stay
We stayed at the Ritz, but it was run down and not worth the money. If you’re a hotel-only traveler, try the Monteleone inside the French Quartre or the Roosevelt outside of it.
Airbnb in the cards for you? They have great options, whether you’re seeking a quiet weekend in a sweet garden-district 3 bedroom or planning a blow-out party weekend in a sprawling French Quarter pad. Splitting this place with a group of friends would make for a truly awesome experience.

2. A Carriage Ride through the French Quarter
You can visit www.neworleanscarriages.com or just walk up to the line of carriages outside Cafe du Monde (grab a beignet for the road first) and pay $90 for a 30-minute ride.

4. A Cocktail and Culinary Tour
New Orleans has more good restaurants than you could visit in a month. Get a good taste for the city and its flavors with your guiding force of choice: Tastebud Tours; Culinary history tours or the Langlois culinary tours.

6. A Scary Evening
If you like the thrill of an eerie tingle, take a voodoo and cemetery tour. If there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, I’ll bet it’s starting in this city.

7. On a Motorcycle or Up in a Plane!
Need more adventure? Jump on a motorcycle from Eagle Rider (if you have your license, of course) and cruise around town. Better yet: reach for the stars with a 90 min Big Easy Lights Aerial Tour.

One-up yourself by heading to the swamp for a midnight Honey Island Swamp tour. Not for me (or the faint of heart.)
